When buying a house or investing in real estate, one expects an initial investment to add value over time. But in social housing, every day that goes by, an unacceptable proportion of the units built under this policy depreciate, like
cars. We identified a set of design conditions that can make social housing units increase in value over time, therefore becoming an investment instead of the pure social expense as is the case today.
