Housing is one of burkhalter sumi architects main focus since their foundation in 1984. Their projects combine highly standardisation, prefabrication and sustainability with the individuality of the programme and the characteristics
of the site. As professors at the «Accademia di architettura» in Mendrisio (www.arch.unisi.ch) they work on the restructuring of former industrial areas into housing.
